Counselling Services for Children & Young People
Tara offers compassionate and specialised counselling and play therapy services to support children and young people in navigating life’s challenges, enhancing their emotional wellbeing, and building resilience.

With a safe and nurturing approach, Tara helps children explore their thoughts and feelings in ways that feel natural to them — including through creative and play-based methods. These techniques allow children to express themselves without relying solely on words, which can be particularly beneficial for those who find it difficult to articulate their emotions.

Play Therapy
Play is a child’s natural language, and play therapy provides a gentle yet powerful way for them to make sense of their inner world. Tara creates a supportive space where children can engage with toys, art, storytelling, sand trays, and other creative tools to process experiences, explore emotions, and develop coping skills.

This non-directive, child-led approach respects each child’s pace and individuality, fostering a sense of safety and control. Play therapy can be especially effective for children dealing with anxiety, trauma, loss, family breakdown, low self-esteem, or behavioural challenges.

Tara also works closely with parents and caregivers, offering insight and strategies to support their child’s progress beyond the therapy room, promoting a consistent and holistic approach to emotional healing.

Young People & Adolescents
Adolescence can be a challenging time, with young people often facing pressures around school, friendships, identity, and family life. Tara offers a safe, confidential space where teenagers can explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace.

While some young people feel comfortable talking, others may find it easier to express themselves in creative ways. Tara integrates a range of approaches to help teens explore difficult feelings without the pressure to find the right words.

These creative methods can be particularly helpful when emotions feel overwhelming or hard to articulate, offering a different, more intuitive way to process experiences. Therapy is always tailored to the individual, supporting emotional resilience, self-understanding, and personal growth.

With consent, Tara may also collaborate with parents or schools to ensure the young person is supported in a consistent and sensitive way.
